How to Know When You Actually Understand a Math Concept

Following an example is not the same as understanding. Real understanding means you can solve a similar problem on your own.

Test yourself

Close your notes and solve a new problem from start to finish. If you get stuck, figure out exactly where and why.

Explain it out loud

Try teaching the concept to someone else. If you cannot explain it simply, there is probably a gap in your understanding.
