Frequently Asked Questions
Answers to common questions about tutoring in Kelowna and online across British Columbia.
Mathematics for Grades 8 to 12, including Foundations, Workplace and Pre-Calculus pathways; Science for Grades 9 and 10; and BC Physics 11. Those are the courses I have taught in British Columbia classrooms, so they are the ones I take on.
Tutoring is $60 for a 60-minute one-on-one session. That is the only tutoring price — there are no tiers, no packages to buy up front, and no contract. The 15-minute consultation that comes first is free.
A free 15-minute conversation so we can meet, so I can understand what your student needs, and so we can both decide whether I am the right fit. It is not a tutoring session, there is nothing to pay, and you do not need to create an account to book one.
Both, and in-person tutoring is a real service rather than a fallback. In Kelowna I teach in person, either at the student's home or at a public library. Anywhere else in British Columbia, I teach online — same teacher, same price, same session length.
It depends on the student's device and what they already use at school — a Chromebook, a school laptop with Teams already installed, and a home computer all work fine. We choose the simplest setup that works well for the student, and sort it out after we have agreed to meet. You do not need to install or decide anything before booking.
Online sessions are paid by credit or debit card through Stripe once the session is confirmed. In-person sessions can be paid the same way, or in cash when I arrive — whichever is easier for your family. Cash is only an option for in-person sessions.
I do. When you request a time it is held for you immediately, then I review the request and confirm it. You will get an email once it is confirmed.
Yes, and most families do. A standing weekly slot is the best way to make steady progress, but you can also book session by session if that suits your schedule better.
Yes, and it is a significant part of what I do — I homeschool my own children. I can take a subject on entirely, provide enrichment for a student who is ready for more, or give you an outside read on where your student actually is. Daytime sessions during school hours are available, online anywhere in BC.
Yes. Parents book most sessions. Tell me the student's grade, the course they are taking and what they are finding difficult, and I will confirm the details before the first session.
Please give at least 24 hours' notice where you can. Sessions cancelled with less than 24 hours' notice may be charged at the tutor's discretion.
Not at the moment. Everything is one-on-one, so the session can go at exactly the pace the student needs.
